EMERGING MARKET SPOTLIGHT – LITHUANIA

Ambercore DC UAB lays the cornerstone in developing TIER III data center facility in Lithuania, and forms a co-marketing initiative with IBM to reach growth market clients across the globe

(Thomson Reuters ONE via COMTEX) — Vilinius, Lithuania — Jan 07, 2014 / (http://www.myprgenie.com ) — AmberCore DC UAB of Lithuania announced today it has executed an agreement with IBM to design a state-of-the-art TIER III data center facility near Vilnius, Lithuania (AmberCore DC Facility). The companies will work together to highlight advantages of having Lithuania as a viable option for worldwide clients wishing to house data in a geographically and politically safe environment both when looking to set up managed services and co-location presence, or when seeking to economically set up recovery and resilience operations.

The first phase of the plan to develop and commission the facility calls for 600 racks at 5KW power supply each. IBM will design the facility to comply with the Uptime Institute’s Tier III requirements for Data Center Operations.

The design and co-marketing activities are first of several steps in the development and operations of the proposed center that are contemplated by the parties. Global marketing activities will start at the IBM PartnerWorld conference in Las Vegas on February 10th, 2014, followed by presentations at similar events and at private demonstrations worldwide.

“After extensive research we felt that IBM, a world leader in data center development, would offer our group the best global reach, quality and partnership infrastructure, both during development and operations phases. In addition to the marketing activities, we are also starting discussions with potential clients interested in this cutting-edge facility. Those companies interested to learn more about the services to be offered at the data center, should contact me at kirill@satgate.net” said Kirill Lupandin, CEO of AmberCore DC UAB.

“We are delighted to be involved in this ambitious project in Eastern Europe. As the leader in data center development, construction and operations, we at IBM have successfully completed hundreds of data center projects all over the world and will use our innovation and experience to create a modern, energy efficient and scalable facility for AmberCore,” said Scott Kennedy, Global Sales Executive for Site & Facilities Services of IBM.

The AmberCore DC Facility is expected to commence full operations in the second quarter of 2015.
